986f078366 bfd_size_type to size_t 
bfd_size_type was invented a long time ago in the K&R days.  Many
places in binutils ought to be using size_t instead (and there are
lots of places that use long or unsigned long that really ought to use
size_t too).  Note that you can't change everything over to size_t: A
32-bit host needs a larger type than size_t to support reading and
processing of 64-bit ELF object files.  This patch just tidies some
of the more obvious uses of bfd_size_type that could be size_t.  There
no doubt are more lurking in the source.  Incidentally, practically
all functions used for output of object files can use size_t and don't
need to worry about overflow of size expressions.  If you have
something like
  symcount * sizeof (void *)
when symcount is counting symbols already in memory then you know that
this expression can't overflow since the size of a symbol in memory is
larger by far than that of a pointer.

5b660084e2 Remove tic80 support 
This is one way of fixing ubsan bug reports, just delete the code.

The assembler support was removed back in 2005 along with other
non-BFD assemblers, but somehow the remainder of the port stayed in.

595d3787e9 Remove CR16C support 
I think it is past time to remove CR16C support.  CR16C was added in
2004, and only for ld.  gas and binutils support is lacking, and there
have been no commits to bfd/elf32-cr16c.c other than warning fixes or
global maintainers making changes to all targets.  I see no maintainer
listed for CR16C, and no commits from anyone at NSC supporting the
target.  Furthermore, at the time the CR16 support was added in 2007,
config.sub was changed upstream to no longer recognise cr16c as a
valid cpu.  That means the CR16C ld support is only available as a
secondary target by configuring with, for example,
--enable-targets=all or --enable-targets=cr16c-unknown-elf.  No
testing of the CR16C target is possible.

999d6dff80 Plugin target handling 
This patch fixes failures with LTO on mingw32 targets.  Since git
commit 7cf7fcc83c all possible targets (minus binary) are matched in
bfd_check_format_matches rather than lower priority targets being
excluded once a higher priority target matches.  During linking that
results in the ld/plugin.c plugin_object_p function being called with
the input file xvec set to plugin_vec, which means
plugin_get_ir_dummy_bfd doesn't see the real format of the file
(pe-i386).  It defaults to the output format instead, which happens to
be pei-i386, and this wrong choice persists for the dummy bfd.
pei-i386 isn't recognised as a valid linker input file.

So, omit recognizing a plugin object in bfd_check_format_matches when
some other object format matches, and make sure those other object
formats are checked first.

	* format.c (bfd_check_format_matches): Don't match plugin target
	if another target matches.  Expand comment.
	* targets.c (_bfd_target_vector): Move plugin_vec after all other
	non-corefile targets, outside !SELECT_VECS.
	* config.bfd: Don't handle targ=plugin here.
	* configure.ac: Don't add plugin to enable_targets or handle in
	target loop setting selvecs and other target vars.
	* configure: Regenerate.

b8891f8d62 Add support for the C_SKY series of processors. 
This patch series is a new binutils port for C-SKY processors, including support for both the V1 and V2 processor variants.  V1 is derived from the MCore architecture while V2 is substantially different, with mixed 16- and 32-bit instructions, a larger register set, a different (but overlapping) ABI, etc.  There is support for bare-metal ELF targets and Linux with both glibc and uClibc.

This code is being contributed jointly by C-SKY Microsystems and Mentor Graphics.  C-SKY is responsible for the technical content and has proposed Lifang Xia and Yunhai Shang as port maintainers.  (Note that C-SKY does have a corporate copyright assignment on file with the FSF.) Mentor Graphics' role has been cleaning up the code, adding documentation and additional test cases, etc, to address issues we anticipated reviewers would complain about.

34a87bb07a ld: Hide symbols defined by HIDDEN/PROVIDE_HIDDEN 
There should be no difference in output for symbols defined by HIDDEN

7dba9362c1 Rewrite __start and __stop symbol handling 
This arranges for __start and __stop symbols to be defined before
garbage collection, for all target formats.  That should allow the
COFF and PE --gc-sections to keep a singleton orphan input section,
a feature lost by 2017-06-13 commit cbd0eecf26.  The fancier ELF
treatment of keeping all input sections associated with a __start or
__stop symbol, from 2015-10-23 commit 1cce69b9dc, is retained.

.startof. and .sizeof. symbols are deliberately not defined before
garbage collection, so these won't affect garbage collection of
sections.

The patch also ensures __start, __stop, .startof. and .sizeof. symbols
are defined before target size_dynamic_sections is called, albeit
with a preliminary value, so that target code doesn't need to cope
with a symbol changing from undefined at size_dynamic_sections to
defined at relocate_section.

Also, a number of problems with the testcases have been fixed.

2318686590 bfd: new BFD target entry point _bfd_set_reloc. 
This patch adds a new entry point to the BFD_JUMP_TABLE_RELOCS.  The
previous common implementation `bfd_set_reloc', in bfd/bfd.c, has been
moved to bfd/reloc.c with the name `_bfd_generic_set_reloc', and all
BFD targets has been adapted to use it.

This patch doesn't introduce any change on functionality, but prepares
the ground for further work.

Most BFD linker functions take a bfd_link_info param, which reinforces
the fact that they are linker functions and allow access to linker
callbacks, eg. einfo for printing errors.  I was going to use einfo
for --fatal-warnings support before I decided a better way was the
patch commit 4519d071.
